In Bloom was a light and sound sculpture presented at Borough Yards, inviting visitors to play, listen and reflect through an open-ended sensory experience. Taking the form of a luminous plant, the installation combined light and sound to create an interactive environment inspired by the process of pollination. Visitors engaged with glowing elements that responded to touch, producing musical notes and encouraging a shared, collaborative experience. Inspired by the movement of pollinators from flower to flower, the artwork explored rhythm, connection and creativity, offering an experience designed for both children and adults. Through its playful interactivity, In Bloom also reflected on the role of pollinators in ecosystems, encouraging a wider consideration of interconnection and biodiversity. Concept and design by Kumquat Lab. Commissioned by Better Bankside.
